The International Society for Better Tomorrows (ISBET) is a
non-profit society based in Geneva, Switzerland. It was incorporated in
1998. It provides advice and technical
support to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) engaged in child development,
education and welfare activities in terms of fund raising, project design,
accountability, project management, etc. etc. It also carries out small
projects in developing countries through well-established and credible NGOs in
the areas of child education, nutrition, micro credit for income generation,
etc.
The background to the
establishment of ISBET was the achievement of widespread international
consensus that the civil society must play a direct role in social development.
In response to this situation, a large number of NGOs have come into being in
developing countries but not all of them have the necessary competence and
capabilities to carry out their assigned tasks. ISBET strongly supports the role of the civil society in all
aspects of development. It also believes that education and welfare of children
is the single most important element of social change and social development,
and that education of all children is indispensable for sustainable social and
economic advancement of any society.
All activities of ISBET are carried out on voluntary basis by its office-bearers and other members, which enables it to guarantee, that all the funds collected by or donated to it, are spent entirely on specific projects without deduction of administrative and other overhead costs.
